Dr. Thushala Ubaya graduated in Dentistry with Honours from the University of London in 2000. Her postgraduate training includes a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Glasgow followed by the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and advanced consultant senior orthodontic training at King’s College Hospital, London following which she obtained the Fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
With nearly a decade of experience as an NHS Consultant Orthodontist and Clinical Lecturer Queen Mary, University of London, Dr. Ubaya served as the Head of the Orthodontic Department at Queen’s Hospital for three years. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, empathetic and patient-focused orthodontic care for both children and adults, focusing on functional problems, alignment and smile aesthetics.
Her clinical interests include digital orthodontics—such as Invisalign and Smartee aligner systems—and fixed appliance therapy using ceramic (white fixed braces) or metal braces. She has a particular interest in helping younger children to manage crowding/functional/developmental issues with early intervention treatments before more severe problems can develop, and complex cases with missing teeth or cases requiring a combination of orthodontics and corrective jaw surgery.
Dr. Ubaya adopts a caring and holistic approach to care, particularly for paediatric and dentally anxious patients. She is very friendly and approachable, always going the extra mile for her patients. Outside of her clinical practice, she is a huge foodie, enjoys traveling, international cuisine and staying active through regular swimming and dance classes.
